Roulette actually means a small wheel in French. Therefore, the name makes the game very self explanatory. The roulette wheel is turned with the help of a croupier. This roulette wheel has distinct pockets. These pockets are generally thirty seven to thirty eight in number. For a thirty seven pocket wheel, the main pockets are numbered from one to thirty six. It also has a zero numbered pocket. These pockets are alternately red and black in color.  But the zero numbered pockets are generally colored in green. The first pocket starts with color red and the second is in black and it goes on alternately till pocket thirty six. The player has to bet on a single number.  The wheel is twirled with the help of this croupier in clockwise direction and the ball spins in the anti clockwise direction. Winning number and color is chosen for bet. The all eventually comes to rest in one of the pockets that decides the bet. The bet consists of deciding on the pocket, the ball will finally fall in. after the bet is decided, the casino moderator places a marker on the target pocket.  Russian roulette is a popular version of Roulette.
